A rally in the 9th inning which brought the winning run to the plate twice, fell short and the Lemurs lost the finale of the four game series with Kansas City 4-2. Jesus Posso and Alvaro Rondon both stepped up the the plate with a chance to win, or tie as J.D Pulfer was standing on second and Drew Martinez on first but both Rondon and Posso struck out swinging. Former Lemur, Mark Haynes worked around the trouble to recorded his 11th save of the season and 2nd save of the series.
The T-Bones got off to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI double by Vladimir Frias and RBI single by Sergio Leon. The T-Bones roughed up Lemurs starter Danny Moskovits, who pitched 1.2 innings, allowed those two runs, five hits.
LHP Matt Bywater made his Lemurs debut pitched four solid innings in relief and kept the Lemurs in the game. Bywater allowed two runs in the 6th inning but prior to the 6th, he pitched three scoreless innings with with two strikeouts. This is Bywater’s fourth team of 2016 and he pitched with Sioux City earlier this season.
Kansas City starter Jordan Cooper shut down the Lemurs just like he did on June 19th when he pitched at Uni-Trade Stadium. Cooper pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two runs, striking out four batters and he scattered six hits. Cooper is has now pitched 14.1 innings allowing three runs and picked up two wins against Laredo this season.
Next up for the Lemurs is a three game series with central division leaders Lincoln Saltdogs starting at 7:05 Friday. Ryan Beckman will get the start for Laredo but it is TBD who will be toeing the rubber for Lincoln. Be sure to come out to the game tonight for postgame fireworks.
