Lemurs lose a Close One
Laredo, TX – Mark Wagner’s two run homerun in the top of the sixth gives the Wichita Wingnuts (38-29) the 3-2 victory over the Laredo Lemurs (31-34) Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
With the Lemurs up 2-1 and one out in the top of the sixth, the Wingnuts sent their newest acquisition, Wilberto Ortiz to the plate. The following batter John Rodriguez flew out to center to creat two outs, then another new Wingnut, Mark Wagner stepped to the plate and lined a homer over the left field wall to put the Wingnuts up 3-2.
Wingnuts starting pitcher Anthony Capra (1-1) continued into the bottom of the sixth with the lead, he gave up a base hit in the inning, but otherwise still looked great. Capra earned the win on the night, throwing six, giving up two runs, while walking two, and striking out six.
