Lemurs Win 8-1 Over Diablos
El Paso, TX — A solid start by Osvaldo Rodriguez leads the Lemurs to the an 8-1 victory over the El Paso Diablos on Thursday night at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas.
Osvaldo Rodriguez went six strong innings, giving up a single run, off of four hits. Rodriguez virtually pitched the same game in his second start for the Lemurs on August 4 against the Grand Prairie Air Hogs as he also only gave up one run off of four hits in six innings of work.
His counterpart, Reyes Dorado, faired pretty well only giving up three runs, on four hit,s in 5.1 innings pitched. However, his teammates did not help out much with run support only putting up one run on the board.
Mitch Einertson and Fernando Valenzuela Jr. led the otherwise stagnant Diablos’ lineup with two hits each. Zane Chavez knocked in the only run in the game for El Paso on a groundout.
For the Lemurs, Stephen Pearson and Palmer Karr Jr. each contributed two RBI and scored a run. Pearson hit a RBI double in the eighth inning and Karr Jr. hit a solo home-run in the top of the ninth. Jimmy Mojica and Uriak Marquez each also had a RBI. Eight of the nine hitters in the Lemurs lineup came across the plate.
The Lemurs head home for a three game series before going on the road for six games. They hope to build upon this win and eliminate the 7.5 game deficit in the South Division in the American Association. The Lemurs only have 23 games to make a run and reach the playoffs.
