Mojica and Brito Homer the Lemurs to a Win
Laredo, TX – Jimmy Mojica and Javier Brito each homer in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Laredo Lemurs to a 6-1 win over the Amarillo Sox Thursday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
With the game tied at one in the eighth, the Lemurs sent Stephen Pearson up to the plate to start the rally. Pearson reached on an error by the second baseman that misplayed and routine ground ball. Anthony Scelfo walked to put runners at first and second with no outs. Stephen Douglas struck out to bring Jimmy Mojica to the plate. With a 2-2 count Mojica turned on the fast ball and deposited it into the left field bleachers to give the Lemurs a 4-1 lead.
Later in the eighth Javier Brito helped to extend the lead by hitting a two run homerun to left that cleared the picnic area to give the Lemurs a 6-1 lead which they would not give up.
