In the final exhibition game before the start of the regular season, the Laredo Lemurs defeated the Eagle Pass Pirates 6-1. The Lemurs broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs all on RBI base hits. Drew Martinez, Travis Denker, had RBU base hits and Zane Chavez had a sac fly in the inning to give the Lemurs a 5-1.
Scott Garner started for the Lemurs and pitched five innings of shutout baseball, striking out five batters, while only allowing two hits. Jimmer Kennedy came in relief and worked a perfect 6th inning. Harold Guerrero allowed the only run in the 7th on a 2-out double but struck out two hitters in the inning.
Matt Koch had a great game behind the plate and in the batters box, going 3-4 with and RBI. Koch had three singles that were hit hard around the field. Travis Denker also reached based twice in the game.
The Lemurs open the regular season, Thursday May 19th at 7:05 against the Fargo-Morehead RedHawks. Be sure to come to Uni-Trade Stadium for the pregame festivities as the Lemurs will receive their rings for winning the 2015 American Association Champioship and raise the banner.
