The Lemurs returned home after a 3-4 road trip and the home cooking treated the Lemurs well. A two-run tripple by Brennan Metzger in the 8th gave the Lemurs a 5-3 and that proved the be all they needed. The Lemurs added three more runs in the 8th inning to win 8-3 and snap their four game losing streak.
Lemurs starter Troy Marks went five innings, striking out four AirHogs, scattering six hits and allowing three runs. Marks allowed a home run to RF Leon Byrd in the first inning, Marks threw three straight scoreless innings, then allowed two runs in the 5th.
The Lemurs got on the board in the 4th inning on a Zane Chavez two run double. Jesus “Panda” Posso started off the 4th inning with his 14th double of the season. Then Burt Reynolds in his Lemurs home debut reached on an error by shortstop Juan Sanchez and that set the table for Chavez who delivered down the right field line.
The Lemurs bullpen did what it always does and shut down the opposition. LHP Luis Pollorena pitched an inning and 1/3 of shut out ball and got out of a jam with runners on second and third with one out in the 6th inning. Danny Reynolds then came in and pitched scoreless inning and two-thirds picking up the win in his outing. Harold Guerrero came in and pitched a perfect 9th inning.
The Lemurs are back at it tomorrow for game two as Jose Nivar will take the mound for the Lemurs and Cody Hebner will take the hill for the AirHogs. First pitch is at 7:05pm and you can watch it on YouTube.com/LaredoLemurs.
