The Laredo Lemurs faced off against the Texas AirHogs for seventh time and third different location. A change of scenery did not make a difference though as for the seventh time this season the Lemurs beat the AirHogs. The AirHogs defense made eight errors leading to eight unearned Lemurs runs which helped Laredo win 15-6 in Amarillo.
Lemurs starting pitcher Troy Marks got his second win of the season as the Lemurs have now won all three of his starts against the AirHogs. Marks threw 5.1 innings allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four hitters.
Laredo would also throw Jose Nivar for 1.2 innings. Nivar would allow a run on two hits while adding three strikeouts to his season total. Luis De La Cruz and Jeff Inman each threw a shutout inning in the ballgame.
Laredo jumped all over AirHogs starter Griffin Russell early. After a shutout first inning, Russell would face all nine Lemurs batters in the second allowing six runs and two home runs in the inning. Russell would ultimately throw four innings allowing 10 runs on nine hits. However, just six of those runs were earned as the AirHogs fielders made multiple fielding and throwing errors.
Cody Culp made his professional debut throwing two shutout innings. Richard Suniga would also throw a couple of shutout innings in relief. Between Culp and Suniga though there was a five run sixth inning against David Russo and Roman Madrid in which the Lemurs scored five runs, but again, just one was earned.
At the plate the Lemurs had big nights from a number of players. Leandro Castro hit another home run, his third in his last five games. J.D. Pulfer and Cesar Valera also hit home runs and scored twice in the game. Valera went three for five at the plate, leading the team in hits. Ty Morrison went 2-4 with a three runs scored and a pair of RBI while Drew Martinez had a 2-5 day with three runs batted in and a run scored.
