For the second consecutive night, the Lemurs were able to get an RBI single in the 6th inning to give them a one run lead and they never looked back. Tonight, Cesar Valera delivered the RBI single to give the Lemurs a 3-2.
Lemurs starter, Troy Marks was cruising through the first five innings, allowing two baserunners to reach, one on an error and the other on a hit. Then in the 6th inning Marks was in a bases loaded, nobody out jam and was pulled from the game after going 5.1 inning. Kamakani Usui came in for the second consecutive night and allowed a single to Brandon Tierney which tied it up at 2. The play of the game was on a single back up into centerfield, Geraldo Valentin was thrown out at the plate by Denis Phipps to keep the game tied at two. This is the second night in a row that Phipps has thrown out a Blaster at the plate.
For Laredo, J.D. Pulfer got the Lemurs on the board early, delivering a two-run single in the bottom of the first off of Joplin starter Santos Arias. Arias received the loss after surrendering the single to Valera in the 6th inning.
It got a little messy in the 8th inning for the Lemurs as the blasters had runner on first and second but Jeff Inman came in to get the final two outs of the inning and then pitched a perfect 9th inning. Inman now has nine saves on the season and his second in consecutive nights.
